This has been quite the day. I got up early again to watch Life Today on TV, it was Wednesdays with Beth Moore. What a gifted teacher. Can’t wait until we do another of her Bible studies in January 2011. Beth’s message this morning was about comparing ourselves, our faith, our love (even for Jesus) to others. She also talked about comparing our suffering, our joys, our children, our successes etc. She quoted verses from John 21, where Peter is told by Jesus, “Follow me.” And he looks around and behind and sees John and then he asks Jesus, “What about him?” And then in verse 22 Jesus replies, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”
I tend to do that too, compare myself, my situation etc to others. Today Jesus said to me, “what is that to you? As for you, follow me.” That’s all. Follow me.
After Life Today I got myself ready for my long to-do list. And a looooong one it was. I knew snow was coming and I really did not want to drive in the snow. So I got started early. I don’t like these long to-do lists. They exhaust me so much. I just barely made it home before Courtney came from school. I was at Chapters for a while, and when I came out of the store it was snowing. I just wanted to get home. It was very slippery. I need to put some bags of sand into the trunk. That helped last winter quite a bit. I still had Superstore on my to-do list, but decided to stop at Sobeys instead and pick up the few items I needed.
I was quite weak and hungry, terribly hungry. I had had breakfast so early in the morning, and by the time I came home it was 2:30 pm. So I put a pasta dish, brussel sprouts and some meat into the oven. I’ve been feeling very sick ever since I got home. I don’t know if it was something that I ate or just the fact that I didn’t eat for such a long time.
Now I’m ready to call it a day. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. I’d like to prepare the living room for our Christmas tree and do some sewing. Each year we have to figure out where to put the tree, what piece of furniture do we move this time, or even take out of the living room. It’s quite the adventure. I still haven’t decided what we’ll do this year. But I have to come up with the solution pretty quick, because I’d like to have tree up by Sunday.
I regret that I didn’t buy a “half-tree” when I went looking for a new tree. Those are so perfect for a small house/small room. I just saw it advertised in one of the flyers the other day. You put the tree completely againt the wall and have only half of it to decorate. The only thing I always wonder, if I would have to fasten this “half-tree” to the wall, in my opinion it might tip easily, with the weight of the ornaments…
