Today we had our first few snow flakes covering the ground, the flowers, the shrubs and trees. What a surprise, what a shock after such a beautiful, beautiful summer and fall that we had here in Manitoba this year. But: time does not stand still, and day after day we move closer to winter. So this morning was a wake up call for me, since a lot of things are still not done, not cleaned up for winter. I am not ready for winter yet!
It’s also been a challenging summer & fall. I had to face many changes. And who does like change? Do you like change? Sometimes it’s not such a big deal. But other times my resistence to change is HUGE. I cling to the old, to the comfortable, to the well-known.
This week I was given this quote:
“Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes.” Hugh Prather
Isn’t that the truth! Just when I’ve gotten comfortable with a stage in life, it changes again. I was reminded of the Bible verse in James 1:17 (New Living Translation):
“Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”
There is something, no someone, who never changes! Our Heavenly Father! Isn’t that a comfort in all the changes we have to face?
Well, and to shock you a little bit of things to come, I thought I’d share some pictures from a winter not that long ago…
It’s always tricky to clean the entrance to the garage.
There’s not much space to put the snow in a backlane!
