Memory Verse #11!

It’s that time of the month again to pick a new Bible verse to memorize!

Lately I found myself heavied (is that even a word?) down with all responsibilities and the decisions I have to make. And it’s not the first time this is happening. From all sides I felt pressed and pushed and shoved… And I kind of got down, no, not on my knees… I wish I had… I got down into this pit of despair. David talks in the Psalms sometimes about this. I love the word despair, just the sound of it makes me shudder. But it really describes, even the sound of it, what I really felt. And it’s not a pretty feeling. And then my heavenly Father reminded me one day, what to do when I don’t know what to do. We talked about this once at our small group at Women’s Bible Study. And that is: Praise God! Thank God! And let me tell you, this spirit of heaviness and despair lifted!!! I’m so grateful, I can’t describe it in words (but I could show it to you :<))) So, this time around I have decided I need to fill my mind with some good “Praise Scriptures”. I need some praise ammunition should this “time of despair” come again. So I will be memorizing Psalm 8 from the New Living Translation:  1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority—
7 the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.

9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

So, what about you? Come on, let’s keep memorizing! No giving up yet! We’re almost half way through! Let’s hear your Bible verses that you will memorize the next 15 days!

  1. Anonymous says:

    we are memorizing 1Cor.9,23 (NIV):
I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

  2. Sandra Kornelsen says:

    I will be memorizing Psalm 139: 1-6

O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
