How about “Memorizing Scripture”?
For two years I’ve been memorizing Scripture. It all started 2 years ago, when Beth Moore called all those who visit her blog to memorize 2 Scriptures a month. She did that for a year for her “siestas” on the blog. And I just continued it in 2010. I threw out this idea at the end of 2009 in my family but in never really caught on or maybe we didn’t organize it properly.
So here is my challenge to my family (& friends, if you like to participate) for 2011: Let’s commit to memorize 2 verses (or more) a month.
Please sign up with a comment to this blog and leave me your email address. And then on the 1st and 15th of each month I will post my Bible verse that I am memorizing, and I ask you to leave a comment with your Bible verse. If you’re late with the comment, I’d like to send you a reminder, that’s why I ask you to sign up and let me know your email address.
This way there will be more accountability. If, for whatever reason, you’d like to discontinue to do this during the year, just let me know. We don’t want to pressure anyone. We only want to grow in our faith and grow closer to Jesus!
Now, one practical suggestion I have for those who want to participate: get yourself a “spiral”. It’s basically index cards that have been made into a spiral. Walmart sells them for $1.99 each. It has 50 index cards in it, which would last you for up to 2 years. And then write out the Bible verse on the 1st and 15th of the month in there. This spiral is so practical, you can carry it everywhere you go.
I believe in the Word of God. I believe it is alive and life-changing. And the more we spend time filling our precious little heads with God’s Word, the more victory we will see in our lives!
So, who’s up for this challenge?
