Pray About Everything!

It’s been a hard few weeks. I’ve seen so much suffering, so many hardships people are enduring. Add all that to my own load I’m carrying, and it seems almost too much.

Everywhere I turn or look there are prayers needed. And my days just fly by without me taking much time to bring these requests before the Lord.

Why do I think I need to carry this heavy load on my shoulders when the Bible clearly states to bring all our concerns, all our burdens to God. He will take care of it. But I have to leave them with the Lord. I can’t just bring them to Him and then when I’m done praying and I get up from my knees, I take it all with me again.

Hebrews 4:16 tells us:

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (New Living Translation – NLT)

This is a great reminder that God is there to help us! We are never alone in what we are facing. He promises to give us mercy, and we will find grace in the darkest hours of our lives.

Are you trying to solve your problems on your own? Are you manipulating people and circumstances in order to solve your problems? How is that working out for you? Have you succeeded?

The Apostle Paul reminded the church in Philippi:

“Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done.” Philippians 4:6 NLT

Our worrying doesn’t help us a bit. The only and the right thing to do is bring it before God in prayer. And we have to leave whatever is weighing us down in His hands, in His care.

I have been carrying this poem with me for many years:

Be still my run away heart…
Be still my desire to fix things…
Be still my anxious thoughts…
Be still and know without a doubt, God is.
God is the answer.
God is the solution.
God is the desire met.
God is what I’m looking for.
God is what I need.
God is God.
Be still and know.

I’m praying that whatever burden you are carrying, you will be able to go to God with it and leave it at His feet. Stop trying to solve it all yourself. Stop manipulating people and circumstances. Trust God. He can be trusted to keep His promises.

God is! Be still and know!
